Japanese baskets via nantucket

I started making baskets with Etsko and Akemi. They taught me the intricacies of the Nantucket style which uses reed and rattan over a wooden form. The Baskets take an incredibly long time to make but are really beautiful and amazingly durable. The Japanese used to use these tight weave baskets for scooping up and transferring whale oil.

Nantucket style making of wood items is special and unique. It is a Japanese style very few people know about it. Normally they are used for storing food grains and in rare cases oils are also stored in it. I appreciate your hard work in making these items.

There is a huge popularity for japaneese baskets as its all due to the uniqueness and the shape size of them. They were beautiful to carry and portable too. It's also used as a home decor . I am really crazy about them and would like to get it.
